Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat
Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.
They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.
âI am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from management,â the coach remarked.
âIt would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.â
He continued, âI'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time Iâve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.â
Talks with The Board
Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot said:
âThere's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.â
He further stated, âIn the normal exchanges I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.â
Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction
The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.
âI haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. Iâm saying that to everyone,â Jones remarked.
âIt's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.â
He went on, âIt's difficult because Iâm playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and Iâve seen Liverpool since I was young.â
âIn recent memory, I havenât experienced a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with results so bad.â
Jones stated, âHowever we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we will always battle.â
âOur aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the world.â
âAt this moment, weâre in the shit and it needs to change.â
