An esteemed Russian general has been declared dead following an blast in Moscow, according to an investigative body.

The event happened on Monday morning when an explosive device placed beneath a vehicle exploded, resulting in the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov served as the head of the armed forces' operational training department.

The committee stated that one theory under investigation points to the potential involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. So far, Ukraine has not issued a comment.
